7-way New VS system view

This is the most powerful VS on the planet. The 5U Dell PowerEdge at the left has 8 processor cores and runs 7 New VS instances, each potentially 2.4 times more powerful than the VS18950 seen in the background. The total potential VS processing power of this New VS is almost 17 times that of the VS18950.

Atop the New VS is a separate Dell PowerVault containing a DAT72 tape drive, useful for conventional VS tape backups and for restoring DDS-3, DDS-4 and DAT72 backup tapes. The DAT72 is becoming superceded by disk backups using the RD1000 removable disk device, shown in the closeups.
